Recommended Reading: Rome Sweet Home

It took me almost a year before I got my hands on a copy of Scott and Kimberly Hahn's book, Rome Sweet Home. Once I picked it up, I could hardly keep myself from turning the pages. And now, I cannot stop myself from recommending this book to others. I'll be straightforward and honest (hopefully I always am) but I am particularly excited about this book because it chronicles one couples journey on their search for truth in the Christian faith. The title kind of gives away where they believe to find that truth, and being Catholic it was such an incredible read to see non-Catholic Christians so fervently seek out truth in faith, scripture, tradition, and history and finding it right here in the Catholic Church. Before you stop reading this blog and go without even entertaining the idea of reading this book, I would implore you to ask yourself this question: "Do I believe in truth?" If you do, then don't you want to know what that is and where or how it can be found? I am so encouraged by the Hahn's and their continual quest to understand the life of Jesus Christ and what that means for the Church today. This post is not set out to proselytize anyone in anyway. I simply want to light a fire in the hearts of whoever reads this so that they will begin or continue their own journey to finding truth, meaning and happiness. I am on a search myself, and so far all roads are pointing to Jesus Christ and His Catholic Church. My prayer is that God is guiding me on the right path, and if what I believe is not true or real, I will stumble upon what is.

  1. I am not Catholic, but a friend who is recommended the book. I'm only half way through, but I can't stop reading! Very thought provoking. Everything I've read in it so far makes sense to me. Having not been raised in the Catholic faith, I understand Scott's journey and I'm excited to keep reading! :)

    1. Thanks for the comment Britt! The Hahn's are really great people. One of their sons, Gabriel, actually serves as a missionary for the same organization I do, FOCUS (www.focus.org)
